THE 100 CARRY PROJECT

TO CARRY OR NOT TO CARRY | Image from photo story about Armen Moradians. "Carrying - what does it mean?" Armen Moradians, a performance artist living in Portland, Maine explores what it means to carry and be carried in this experiment titled "The 100 Carry Project." Moradians vows to carry at least 100 people, one at a time, on his back for approximately two miles through downtown Portland in search of the human connection, asexual touch, and spiritual identity that he feels today's society prevents us from experiencing. The volunteer who is carried must agree to write about his or her experience of being carried on Moradians' website. Together, he and his volunteer discover for a moment through carrying what it means to coexist in the present and foster a clean harmony between mind, body, and spirit.

Whitney J. Fox is a storyteller who uses photographs and multimedia platforms to tell a visual narrative about the people and places she encounters in this world. She believes people are connected more closely than they may realize. She hopes her work informs, promotes communication, builds relationships, and sparks unexpected dialogue.

Whitney has a B.A. from Connecticut College, studied at the University of Mysore in southern India, completed graduate studies in Photography at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, and has an M.S. in Photojournalism from Boston Universityā€™s College of Communication.

In addition to Lightstalkers, she is a member of American Society of Media Photographers and National Press Photographers Association.
