Magnum Workshop/Boxing Club

The Magnum Workshop East London is a seven day event organised for advanced photographers wishing to take the next logical step in their career. Led by Magnum photographers Chris Steele-Perkins and Simon Wheatley, this workshop is an exciting opportunity to build a body of work focusing on the topical regeneration of East London. St. George’s Boxing Club Chairman trainer Bill Thomas has 240 members in the 53 year old the club. World Champion Terry March and European Champion Rod Douglas both won their belts during their time at St George’s, and many other amateur champions have also passed through the clubs doors. The Club is one of the oldest in the East End. These days they have many talented young sportsmen who have come from the street: Jouma Mahmood and Chris Ali both aim to box at the 2012 Olympic Games.
