Showkat Nanda is a Kashmir based photojournalist primarily interested in creative photography.He is also interested in documenting social life and issues related to conflict through photography.He started photography as an amateur when he was 9.He has a Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism with a specialization in Photography and Filmmaking.He has won a national award for a short film in 2006(the first and the only award won by any student from the media department of Kashmir University).The 7-minute short film was screened in International Film festivals held in Australia,Russia and South Africa.He has also worked with a well know international news agency as a photographer.He presently teaches phtography,photoediting and film appreciation to Mass Communications undergraduates and works as a photojournalist and Feature writer/Reporter for a Kashmir based Daily,Rising Kashmir.
