A Native-Bangkok, Patcharin Toraktrakul was born in May 1980.
After received B.A. degree in Advertising from Thammasat University in 2000, she continued her self-study, in-depth researching and photography.
Her career began as a permanent photographer at the News Photography Center of Nation multimedia Group which provided images to 3 leading newspapers and a weekly news magazine in Thailand.
In 2006, she left the Nation Multimedia Group for the Art Asia Press where she started her fieldwork both in domestic and aboard, for example, Cambodia, Laos and China.
She was a fellow of the Imaging Our Mekong Fellowship 2007 cycle, supported by Rockefeller Foundation (c/o Inter Press Service Asia -Pacific and Probe Media Foundation, Inc.) for the production of cross-borders news documentary on the specific area of Sino-Thai, “Exiled Kuomintang in Thailand: Waiting till Their Last Breath to Return Home”.
This news documentary was presented as a photo exhibition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and will be held the road show in Mekong region countries in 2008.
Patcharin won Research Fellowship 2008, supported by Thailand Research Fund. She is now based in Bangkok and continuing her photography and in-depth research on Exiled Kuomintang in Thailand project and being a member of Majorityworld Photo Agency.
