I am an Africa-based photojournalist of Zambian extraction, who has lived in Africa for more than 40 years. I am currently based in South Africa.

I have worked as a freelance photographer since 1996, in 19 countries including Uganda, Mocambique, Mali, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe and Zambia. And photographed events such as the IDP camps in Darfur, the elections in DRC and Malaria in Katanga. Major themes include Aids, TB, daily life and the people of Africa.

I am an opinionated commentator on contemporary Africa, backed up by my extensive personal experience.

I come from a broad-based visual design background. I am a graduate of the Market Theatre Photography Workshop (1992/1995) and a participant in photojournalism programmes with The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Poynter Institute. I worked for a number of years in Johannesburg for The Star, Sunday Independent, Mail & Guardian and Business Day newspapers, as well as Leadership and Marie Claire magazines. Since 1996 my images have been published in Le Monde, San Francisco Chronicle, The LA Times Washington Post, Expressen Newspaper, Globo, among others.

I am privileged to spend much time documenting the lives of others, and strive to come away with images that convey the essence of these encounters.

I am currently involved in photographic education and training, long-term photojourn projects, news features, portraits and social documentary work with a special interest in health, culture and african daily life.

I have been awarded a scholarship and am studying towards an BA Honours Degree in Media and Cultural Studies at The University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

My clients include online media, wire services, international news organisations, print media and international developmental partnerships.

I have left footprints in Zambia, Rio de Janeiro, Washington DC, Europe, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Dubai, Sudan, Darfur, Southern Sudan, Uganda, Mali, Ivory Coast, Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi, Nairobi, Swaziland and South Africa.
