Olongapo Stories

This is a project I began in February 2007.In the course of working with an NGO of survivors of prostitution, I was introduced to these women. They all work in in Olongapo, a former US Base in a province three hours away from Manila. Most of them are from poor families, have not reached high school, and are supporting their parents as well as their own children. They all work hard to send money home every month. Some have come to Olongapo from Manila or the nearby provinces for a better "deal".They also wait for men who will be their "boyfriends" and who may become their husbands later. They all have individual stories to tell. This is still an ongoing project. All Photographs by Kat Palasi. All Rights Reserved @2007.
