lyric r. cabral is a freelance photographer, journalist, black and white fine printer, and educator based out of brooklyn, new york. lyric is currently a contributor to “click! photography changes everything”, an online initiative of the Smithsonian Institution.
in 2007 lyric was a recipient of the Howard Chapnick grant for the Advancement of Photojournalism, administered by the Eugene Smith memorial fund. the grant funds were received based on her co-creation of the bridge project, an organization that brings photojournalism instruction to youth in communities lacking photographic opportunities.

cabral is commited to honestly telling stories that the media evades or misrepresents and, in the tradition of robert capa, considers herself to be a “concerned photographer.”
