Roberto Tofani is a multimedia journalist by choice and necessity. Having discovered the World Wide Web, he decides to head to South East Asia. Viet Nam is his first stop and after seven years of travel in the East, Hanoi becomes a second home. It’s from there that Roberto begins to work as a contributor for an Italian multimedia press agency (AKI – AdnKronos International).
From Viet Nam he begins to explore other countries in the region—Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and China—and to report for a variety of Italian and International newspapers, magazines, web agencies and radios (AsiaTimes Online, World Politics Review, Il Messaggero, La Repubblica, Il Riformista, Il Fatto Quotidiano, Il Manifesto, Il Mattino, Terra, Diario, Left, Il Venerdì di Repubblica, AKI – Crises Today, Lettera22.it, Lettera43, Australia’s Special Broadcasting Services, RSI and Radio Radicale).
While criss-crossing South East Asia, he decides to share his experiences through a blog—Sudestasiatico.com—trying to capture certain moments in time with his camera and video equipment. In May of 2010, time does stop when his daughter is born. At the beginning of 2011, together with others colleagues based in Austria, France and Italy, he launches PlanetNext.net, an association of journalists committed to the concept of “information for change.”Roberto Tofani 's current location:
