Low City

The Shi-ba-ti,which means 18 stairs in Chinese, is an old path cramped between the Yangtze River and the central business center of Chongqing. The whole residential area is crowded with stairs and shacks put up by the streets. Though only a stone's throw away from the city centre, this area has nothing to do with prosperity. It is the extract of the urban low life. Chongqing is now investing 20 billion Yuan in the urban development project. The living standard of Chongqing will keep rising just like the water level of Yangtze River, and this area of low city will vanished into the concrete jungle soon.
