The Backyards of Miami and Miami Beach

Miami Beach: The sunny side of life - celebrities and the rich, tourists and the spring-break addicted college students. But hidden behind this "ideology of advertisement" there are the backyards of Miami Beach. The invisible and homeless, the spotless, aseptic fashion-district with its almost "fascistic" aesthetics and the the small streets in between, dirty and falling apart. Here the crisis of economy had arrived years ago - and the new, bigger economic crisis just kicks it one step nearer towards the edge of (non) livability. In this small photo-essay I have concentrated on these different moods and feelings in simple black & white shots. The shots where taken within several hours during three days in an area reaching from the fashion & design district in downtown Miami towards the southern end of Miami Beach.
