I focus on portrait and reportage photography and create short film and multimedia using high quality hdslr for a variety of organizations, including news, ngo’s and commercial. I am currently based in mainland China exploring its many border cities, and in 2013 will be completing a body of work on rural health care in America through a grant from the 2013 Rita K. Hillman Foundation.
Eric Michael Johnson is an American photojournalist and filmmaker whose work led to the Oscar shortlist and nominated for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass. Eric studied at the International Center of Photography in New York City and is a frequent contributor to The New York Times. Eric’s recent personal projects include combat veterans in Russia, violent crime victims in Mexico City, and inside New York City’s largest homeless shelter Bellevue.
He has received honors from organizations including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars), Photo District News (PDN), New York Photo Festival (NYPH), American Photography (AP28), International Photography Awards (IPA), AFI Silverdocs, and International Documentary Association (IDA.)
