Born in 1984 in the industrial city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, Sasha Maslov knew at an early age he had a passion for photography. Prior to even graduating from college in 2006, Sasha actively pursued projects and found himself in collaboration with various high-end editorial clients and advertising agencies. Quickly establishing himself as a reputable photographer in his native Ukraine, in 2007 Sasha knew greater things lay ahead and he uprooted himself from his familiar home and moved to vibrant city of New York.

In an ever-transient state, the focal point of his work continues to be people. It is through these individuals Sasha harnesses a vehicle that is able to bring light to society’s shortfalls and the destructive nature of the human psyche in material form. As a photographer he is not interested in pursuing a projection of solace or consolation within a situation, or to even depict a palpable story, but rather to highlight fragments of a time and place, pressing the observer to come to their own understanding of the image before them.

Sasha’s work has been showcased in a number of galleries internationally, including a presentation in the National Museum of his native Ukraine in Kiev – a crowning moment in the photographer’s young career. Already, Sasha is recognized as part of a new school of emerging Ukrainian photographers ready to assume the contending ranks of well-known photographers such as Boris Mikhailov, among others.

Today, Sasha is based in New York City where he now lives and directs his creative zeal and professional efforts towards fine art and editorial photography.
