I’m a freelance visual journalist based in Singapore. Currently, I working on various long-term projects and short-term assignments with a humanitarian angle and social impact. I’ve covered difficult stories in Nepal, Pakistan, China and India, both on self-generated assignments and editorial commissions.
I am now looking to work more closely with NGOs to give a journalistic edge over their communication efforts. My belief is that photojournalism and humanitarian work share the same cause – effecting social change. Many stories require independent visual storytellers who can excel in the most challenging conditions, to produce riveting multimedia stories. Through powerful visual narratives, NGOs can raise further public awareness of their causes, and communicate clearly to donors in a truthful and persuasive manner.
Prior to becoming freelance, I had worked five years as a staff photographer in a tabloid and a broadsheet in Singapore (2003-2008). I received four years of rigorous training in journalism, both written and visual, at the School of Communication Studies (now called Wee Kim Wee School of Communications and Information), at the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
