Community Journalism

Working in a smaller community is, to me, one of the greatest challenges in photojournalism. Opportunities for great images just don't present themselves on a daily basis. Subjects can't hide behind the anominity a that large city affords, they are your neighbors and friends. The issues are here, just like every other city, war, drugs, immigration, health care and aging, but getting people to be open, to talk, that is challenging. It takes a alot of patience and respect to build the neccessary trust and repore required to get the stories.
