Transports

The main project that I am working on at the moment is about transportations in Europe, especially trains in Italy. This kind of "non places" are an interesting environment to show how Europe and Italy are changing at the beginning of this century. Trains are very popular in Italian everyday life. They are used by workers, clerks, students, tourists and emerging social figures as migrants that often travel a lot inside the country. This moving world, very rich of heterogeneous humanity, is nowadays in conflict with the plans of Trenitalia executives, the main operator in this sector, now owned completely by the Italian State. These plans consist mainly in undergoing a process of privatization, increasing the tickets’ prices (doubling them within five years) and cutting employment.
