Stone Life in Cambodia

One of the things that struck me while in Cambodia was everything everywhere seemed to be alive. There are faces, animals, and stories etched, engraved, and sculpted into every surface of every building and structure. I found the attention to detail, and the value placed on the aesthetic appeal of every object astounding. The amount of ornamentation was incredible and striking to me. Despite not having read all of the stories nor fully understanding the symbols, I was taken aback and inspired to learn and comprehend the significance of each. The life which mesmerized and surrounded me, even in the ancient Angkor temples, permeated through every aspect of my experience in Cambodia.
