Theresienstadt

This has been one of the darkest places in the world - it's still a chilling place 60 years later. In 1940 the Nazis established a Gestapo prison in the small fortress at the old Hapsberg garrison town of Theresienstadt - now called Terezin - in northern Czechoslovakia. 32,000 political prisoners passed through it's gates, 2,500 of them were tortured to death or executed. In 1941 the population of the main town was ejected and it became an appallingly overcrowded ghetto for Jews en route to the death camps further east. 150,000 people passed through, 35,000 died there.

About

I develop projects that I’m interested in, raise the money to do them, then try to sell the pictures. I work very simply: black and white 35mm, one lens. There is some work from Europe on my website. Places on my ‘radar’ are: Kosovo, Algeria & Morocco, Sri Lanka, Laos. I just love wandering around with a camera in my hand.
