'Prestige' Oil SpillOn 17 November 2002 the 'Prestige', an oil tanker carrying 77,000 tons of crude, broke in two and sank off the coast of Galicia, north west Spain. As one of the NGOs said at the time "The Prestige is Bahamas flagged, American classed, Greek owned by a company that may or may not be registered in Liberia, and chartered by a business that could be Russian or Swiss." None of this mattered to the people who live in this beautiful part of Spain - they just saw a mass of congealed oil washing up on their coastline, and were told they were no longer allowed to sell their fish. The tragedy was compounded by the fact that it was the Spanish government who had refused permission for the tanker to come in to a Spanish port when it was first in trouble. They forced the ship out into the open sea, where it broke up. Two years later, the wreck was still leaking oil.

About
I develop projects that I’m interested in, raise the money to do them, then try to sell the pictures. I work very simply: black and white 35mm, one lens. There is some work from Europe on my website. Places on my ‘radar’ are: Kosovo, Algeria & Morocco, Sri Lanka, Laos. I just love wandering around with a camera in my hand.
