About

Giordanno Bruno is a professional freelance photojournalist based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, working on covering the stories of city events, social gatherings and news facts.

Giordanno was born in Brazil in the year 1985, son of the 70-80´s photographer Robson Villas and the History teacher Sonia Maciel, starting an early will to become an anthropologist and later a photographer yet in 2002.

Starting his photography professional career in 2005, he founded in Journalism the best way to make master photos of life and the places he went, learning how to create and tell stories with images.

In 2007 started his studies in Social Communication, with enphasis in Journalism at the Augusto Motta University Center (UniSuam).

In early 2007 he completed a professional photography course in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Ateliê da Imagem (Image Atelier), a professional center of young students that created new waves of documental photographers.

After this period his work begun to be sponsored by many news agencies like Omega Press, Futura Press, Ativo and the newspaper Correio Fluminense (Fluminense Mail), being in this last one the photo-editor.

In 2008 got several images published by the National Geographic Society. Also have many pictures published in the greatest newspapers of Brazil, like O Globo and Jornal do Brasil. His assignments included sports, social events and police conflicts.

In 2009 started to work as institutional photographer at the image-maker company Millagro doing assignments in the worksites of Petrobrás (biggest oil company in South America). In 2010 became a staff photographer at the Ateliê Derossi, a professional school of photography and image company that made him the main photographer in institutional assignments.

Today, Giordanno works as a freelance photographer in Rio de Janeiro, trying to make a big portfolio that includes images of the nature, wild-life, environment and the anthropological aspects of brazillian indigenous tribes, like the Pataxó, Guarani and Kayapó he so passionately attempt to help by making great shots of it´s Culture, Society and History.
