Far and Close

In 2006 I spent time in both England and China documenting the lives of retired people. In both countries, social clubs often replace the workplace as a means by which elderly people find friends and establish an order and a sense of belonging in their lives. I concentrated my work in these locations in the hope of revealing the traditional cultural pursuits that bring happiness and fulfilment to the lives of society’s eldest members.
