Since 1973 Santa Barbara photographer Patricia Houghton Clarke has been involved in the arts, extensive worldwide travel, and the pursuit of enriching communities through her work in the non- profit sector. In 1974 she traveled 10,000-miles by truck with an international group across the African continent from London to Nairobi. During this time abroad she also lived in Java, Indonesia studying Batik. A life-long supporter of basic human rights, in 1980 she co-founded Homes For People, an award-winning self-help affordable housing non-profit organization. Her volunteer efforts have included working as an ESL tutor working with Hmong-Lao immigrants, serving as a Board member for the Summer Solstice Celebration and Advisory Board member for the Santa Barbara Youth Performing Arts Center; actively advocating for the rights of the mentally ill and their families, and promoting Arts in the schools.
Her most recent international photographic journeys have been focused on Japan, Borneo, Southeast Asia, Italy. She is currently working on a major documentary project about Drag Performers in Santa Barbara.Patricia Houghton Clarke 's current location:
