Sharbendu is a documentary photographer & writer based out of New Delhi. Alongside photographing, he enjoys the intellectual engagement in the field of academics, and thus when not travelling on assignments, teaches photojournalism and manages the module in the Department of Journalism, Jamia Millia Islamia University (a Central University), New Delhi. He did his MA in Photojournalism from the University of Westminster, London.
He’s widely travelled across India on commissions to photograph as well as produce video documentaries for international organisations including Oxfam India, Safer World Communications, Save The Children, Save The Children Finland, Plan India, Room To Read, Greenpeace, SEEDS India, Dan Church Aid, Christian Aid and Sesame Workshop.
He has also written and photographed for several editorial clients including Caravan, Marie Claire India, Motherland, The Indian Express,The Sunday Guardian, Down To Earth, The Hindu, Outlook Traveller, Jetwings, Discover India, India Today Travel Plus, and Swagat, among others.
He is available for assignments and is happy to travel to remote locations, but is also enthusiastically open to plan, conceive and undertake participatory photography workshops for corporates, organisations or communities.
