Peru

On August 15, 2007 an 8.0-magnitude earthquake shook the southern coast of Peru for almost 2 minutes. Homes, mostly made of adobe brick, collapsed, killing more than 500 people and injuring thousands. Currently tens of thousands are homeless, living in makeshift housing, tent cities and in the remains of broken homes. I traveled with Doctors Without Borders staff to the regions around Pisco, Humay and Guatalupe to photograph the recovery.
