Cuban Medical Brigade

The Cuban International Medical Brigade has two full service tent hospitals functioning in the earthquake-affected areas of Southern Peru. The doctors and nurses have served in Pakistan, Indonesia, Guatemala and Bolivia since their inception in 1998 following Hurricane Mitch. Cuban authorities say that the US government denied their offer to send as many as 2500 doctors to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast.
