About

Paul M. Jackson was born in Winston-Salem, NC and makes his home in Asheville, NC. At 14 years of age, his father gave him a camera and he has been shooting ever since. He was selected to photograph Grandfather Mountain in black and white film for the Nature Conservancy at age 15, and then on to become the yearbook photographer at age 16. Then, building a darkroom with a limited budget in an unused janitor’s closet, he embarked on a slow transition to digital photography, embracing it early on. Now known for his colorful imagery,
exploring the line between fine art in the work’s expression and documentary in its approach, he has produced a variety of work in a universal style. With travel as his muse, Paul’s self-assignments include trips to Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Scotland, and throughout the USA.

Spending ample time in New York, immersing himself in the work of his heros (Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jay Maisel to name two), past and present, Paul now plans to refine his vision and improve upon this craft, keeping in tradition of the medium’s history while pushing its boundries along the way.

Paul is currently available for image production, challenges, & adventures. Please inquire within.
