Children of the Street

In the capital of Peru many children are forced to live in the street. Often they are preyed upon gangs, criminals and other street people. Many take drugs and steal. Others find menial jobs working, but life is often difficult. Too often, the girls resort to prostitution. The street creates a pathology of fear, depression, incarceration and early death. There is a group that reaches out to these children. It is called the Association Ayllu Situwa. Here they find hope and a chance for a new life.
