Graduated in Political Science from St. Xaviers’ College, Calcutta,after which Ranjan Kamah went on to work as an assistant director in Bombay on documentaries, short and feature films. Thereafter, Ranjan completed his post-graduation from the London Film School, with a Distinction in Cinematography in 1989 For nearly two decades he has been working both as cinematographer and director on feature documentaries for the BBC, Channel Four, National Geographic and Discovery Channel amongst others. Presently, Ranjan is producing and directing feature documentaries. The films he has produced and directed include ‘Fishers of Men’, ‘The Die Is Caste’ and ‘Tam Bram in a Jazz Jam’. His latest project is a feature documentary about Habib Tanvir – one of the world’s greatest theatre directors and his troupe Naya Theatre titled ‘Tanvir’s Theatrical Travelogue’. Still photography – in black and white – is a passion and ‘spin off’ of his travels through India and around South Asia, documenting the places visited and people he has met.
