Jakarta's daily lifeIndonesia's capital and largest city, Jakarta, is home to around 12 million people, but the population is ever-expanding as rural migrants arrive seeking a better life. Instead, they find themselves living among eight million others in the dense slums of the city's urban sprawl. The slums are often built along river banks, highways and railway lines where only the desperate would choose to live.
