About
I’m a self-taught Brooklyn based photographer, originally from Sweden, with a keen sensitivity to natural light. My compositions tend to be minimal, graphic, and have a cinematic look. My color photography studies the vernacular urban and industrial landscapes in transition. I work intuitively finding scenes that appeal to my eye or invoke certain feelings, including, familiarity, alienation, eeriness, or the abstract. A point-of-view one might expect from someone who is not at home in a place or searching for something. Often the work is void of people. My black & white photography is more personal and a visual experience in light and mood, with roots in German Expressionism. The darkness in the low-key images represents challenges, fears, and obstacles we face in life. Artist that I draw inspiration from include Stephen Shore, Andre Kertesz, and Bill Brandt. During the last two years of photographing I have been published extensively online and in print. I have received several awards and accolades in the last year from Black & White Magazine, International Photography Awards 2007, and Px3, among others.
