Born and bred just west of London. Took up travelling in ‘92 and wound up in Rwanda and Burundi while the shit was hitting the fan. Enjoyed the concept of travelling to places that are out of bounds for "5 star" tourists and found myself heading for places such as Central America and SE Turkey. Tried "normal" holidays since, and just don’t get it. Not a glory hunter looking for war zone thrills. More interested in meeting, photographing and writing about local people who have little or no contact with foreigners. If that involves heading into dangerous territory, I’ll weigh up the risks and consider it. Equally at home with the Sami of N Scandinavia as with the Jelali Nomads of East Turkey.
