About

Andy Rain, 40, self-taught British photojournalist took up photography while travelling Asia during the late 1980s. He has worked extensively throughout Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East, covering conflict and other human and social issues.
His view that ‘the most tragic of all struggles is one that goes unnoticed’, compels him to work in some of the world’s most dangerous places. “It’s easy to turn a blind eye to other peoples problems, but by covering such issues I hope to prevent indifference in myself and if possible in others too.
If I can move people through the images that I shoot then I will have achieved what I set out to do’.
His work has been published in Life, Geo Magazine, Newsweek, Royal Geographical, Newsweek, Time Magazine, Stern, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Times of London, among others. He has published one book, titled, ‘Penan, Borneo’s Hunters & Gatherers’ and has held numerous exhibitions in Tokyo and London.
Andy is currently Chief Photographer of the UK for EPA (Eurpean Pressphoto Agency). He lives in London with his two children. www.andyrainphotos.com
