Born in Germany and having lived in the U.S., Carsten Bockermann is now based near Bonn, Germany. Since the early 1990s he has specialized on photographing everyday life in different cultures around the world using a combination of direct reportage and visually interpretative style. Instead of ‘cataloguing’ a place Carsten focuses on finding the symbols that reveal its atmosphere and spirit.
