Jacquelyn Martin (b. 1979) is a staff photojournalist with the Associated Press, Mid-Atlantic bureau, in Washington DC. Fluent in Spanish, she has a passion for covering Latino issues and immigration. Prior to accepting a staff job with the AP she was freelance for one year after working as a staff photographer at the Birmingham Post-Herald for three years. Born in Syracuse, NY, she graduated with honors in 2001 from the Rochester Institute of Technology
with a BFA in Applied Photography, and concentrations in photojournalism and minority relations.
Her work has been published in the New York Times, L’Express Magazine, Los Angeles Times, St. Petersburg Times. As a freelancer she contributed to the World Picture News agency and regularly shot for the New York Times.
She has won multiple awards for her photography, including awards for her
work in Birmingham’s Ensley community and in the Mexican immigrant population
in Alabama. Her work from Mexico has been displayed in local galleries.
