About

Hes Mundt is a self-taught photographer / videographer based in Amsterdam The Netherlands.

In 1984 he was called up for his compulsory military service and joined the
UN peace keeping forces in Lebanon ( UNIFIL ) as a volunteer in 1985.
He served for 6 month with the UN and after returning to The Netherlands he
spent one year in Australia, working in a brick factory and travelling the country.

In 1990 he started working for a local TV station as a cameraman, making news
items. Two years later he joined the VPRO, a Dutch national public broadcast
company, and over the past 15 years he has made dozens of documentaries on
all kinds of subjects, from political stories to music documentaries.

During the years as a cameraman, photography has always kept his interest.
In May 2005 he attended a workshop in the south of France, lectured by Gary Knight from VII photo agency. He went to Banda Aceh in Indonesia to cover the one year
commemoration of the December 2004 Tsunami, and photographed the GAM rebels
handing over their weapons to the Aceh Monitoring Mission, after the Tsunami ended a 30 year conflict with the Indonesian government.

Since 2001 he travels on a regular basis to East Africa and became involved with
WIR Pictures in late 2006.

He currently has his own video equipment, including a Sony HVR-Z1E camcorder
and a new Mac book Pro with Final Cut Studio 2, for editing facilities.

Hes Mundt 's current location:
