About

Born in Warsaw (1975), independent artist, curator, journalist.

From 2003 – 2006 editor and editor in chief of Pozytyw magazine. He was General Curator of Transfotografia Festival 2007 (Gdansk – Gdynia – Sopot, Poland). In 2006 he worked as curator of Yours Gallery (Warsaw).

Curated numerous exhibitions including Update. Review of ne Polish photography – a multimedia project commissioned by Krakow’s Photomonth (Poland); Teraz Polska group exhibition;

Krzysztof Miękus is staff lecturer (History of Photography and Documentary Photography) at Europejska Akademia Fotografii (European Academy of Photography) in Warsaw since 2004.

Krzysztof MiÄ™kus has been working as independent photographer for Gazeta Wyborcza and Przekrój (Poland) and contributed to a group project MaÅ‚opolska. Photography – Un-clarified.
He published (with writer / journalist Adam Leszczyński) a book concerning the cultural, economical and social background of the HIV / AIDS epidemic in Africa – Naznaczeni – Afryka i AIDS (Warszawa, TRIO 2003).
Krzysztof Miękus has been colaborating with Krakow’s Photomonth, Photo Sittcomm Award, Sirius Arts Centre (Ireland), Zachęta National Gallery (Warsaw), Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles (France), Gazeta Wyborcza (Poland).

Grantee of the French Embassy in Warsaw (2006), Asia-Europe Forum (2007), Visegrad Fund (2008), Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2009), Pro-Helvetia (2009).
