BalserosBalseros, fishermen form the coastal town of Playas. Ecuador, use balsa wood rafts and canvas sails for their fishing activities following the 600 year old tradition of their ancestors. The Balseros rafts are the last remnants of the traditional culture of the Indians from the Andean Coast who navigated the Pacific Ocean. Today there are less than 20 Balseros ramaining in Ecuador and their traditional practices are rapidly disappearing.
