My name is Avaiz Hashmi and I am originally from D. G. Khan, Punjab, Pakistan.

I have been in Canada since August 18, 2005, taking “Applied Photography” at Sheridan College.

I want to become a photojournalist and live by a camera and a laptop. This is all I want in life.

There have been a lot of instances in my life which made me make my mind for photojournalism. Documentaries about photographers and their way of life on National Geographic Channel and Reuters, how they live and how they would die in a war like Dan Eldon. Its just that it has more meaning to it compared to working in an office or a studio.

I’ve recently won two awards, one for “Best Editorial Photo” and the other is “Best in Concept”. Both were awarded in the gallery project of 1st year in Sheridan College Photography.
