danube delta

Danube Delta is the largest and best preserved of the European deltas, after the Volga Delta. Hosting over 300 species of birds as well as 45 freshwater fish species in its numerous lakes and marshes, it became in 1991 UNESCO list of World Heritage Site. Apart from this, around 15.000 people are living here. Isoleted by waters, ignored by authorities, without medical assistance or other meanings of transport excepting boats, the Danube Delta inhabitants are earning their living by fishing and farming. Most of them are born here, but many have came an live in delta just to be forgotten by the rest world.
