New photobook out now: “horror movies” www.blurb.com/user/mvlimbert
Michael Limbert is a Detroit-based photographer with a focus on editorial, street and immediate reaction. Born in Niles, Michigan (home of French Paper, Simplicity Patterns and Tommy James & The Shondells) Michael earned a BA in English with a Japanese concentration at Kalamazoo College in 1992, before getting sidetracked into an advertising creative career. His first big assignment was as art director AND photographer, shooting open-wheel race cars for Team Penske on the CART and IRL circuits in the US and Canada. Later, while rising to the role creative director at several US ad agencies, Michael sharpened his photography and gained publication in Monocle, VIEW Magazine, NRC Handelsblad, The Sun, Paste and ASMP, as well as in branding & advertising (including the current Chevrolet “Bowtie” logo seen globally).
In between subsequent moves to LA, NYC, Chicago and Detroit, Michael performed in the US and Europe with the band FORTUNE & MALTESE (as Michael Maltese) and self-published 5 photobooks: “Wave”, “American Tour”, “state fair”, “rangefound” and “horror movies”. Currently, he’s shooting towards a personal theme relating to atomic energy science & running the photoblog “Rangefound” at rangefound.com.
