About
Pedro Lobo, 52, Brazilian photographer, studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and at the International Center of Photography, NYC and is primarily dedicated to projects that combine personal expression and social content. My architecture photographs intentionally use artistic expression – sophisticated photographic techniques normally used to register historical monuments or privileged homes – in order to attract attention to the adverse conditions of life and the struggle to maintain human dignity in spite of all difficulties faced by people who have no other choice but to live in excluded communities. My images reflect the responsibility with which I use my work. They are not about crime, or criminals, poverty, or misery, but about human beings who found, or placed, themselves in extremely adverse situations and decided not to give up the struggle for a dignified existence.
