About

Dawn Roberts Anderson is a photographer, film, and installation artist whose works explore concepts of female sexuality and gender, as well as attraction and repulsion, by communicating ideas through personal and intimate narratives using imagery that both appropriates and deconstructs mass media imagery and cultural myths.

Dawn graduated from NSCADU in 2005 with a BFA in Film Production and Film Criticism, and NBCCD in 2002 with a Diploma in Photography. Her media art has been featured in several exhibitions including The Politics of Netporn in Amsterdam, Media Masquerade at CFAT in Halifax, and the Faucet Media Gallery in Sackville, New Brunswick. Fetish, her first solo show appeared as two installation works at the UNB Art Centre in January 2004. Her video installation Cyborgasm was featured at the Mother of Invention group show in 2002.

Currently, Dawn creates imagery through her photography enterprise, FataleFemmes.com. Through photography and representation of common feminine archetypes such as the femme fatale, she is interested in challenging female gender roles, the conventions of feminine sexuality and the portrayal of women in popular culture.

Dawn Roberts Anderson's current location:
