<title>There is one street in Bangkok where backpackers, visiting Japanese salary men, blue collar machinists from Birmingham and eventually about every single male visitor to Bangkok might mingle on any given night. Soi Cowboy probably the most famous street in Bangkok and a must see for tourists from worldover. A neon lite world of fantasy, lust, and carnality
which is still somehow less threatening than the other Bangkok red light districts of Patpong and neighboring Nana. With names like Dollhouse, Toy Bar, and Afterschool they cater to older men on the night out in an exotic city for a beer and to watch the much younger go go dancers perform. Most girls who dance at or frequent the numerous bars on Soi Cowboy will go back to the hotel with the customer after he pays the &quot;bar fine&quot; to the owner allowing her to leave her shift at the club. Vendor trying to sell posters to bar girls outside club.</title>

<title>The Vegetarian festival takes place Phuket during late sept/early October each year for nine days and is intended to bring good luck to the individual as well as the community for the next year. Each of the main temples in the town are given the honor of letting the procession begin at their location. The Ma Song are devotees who are believed to pocess supernatural powers and use self torture such as body piercing, walking on fire, andexposure to fireworks to inflict pain upon themselves in order to protect the community from future suffering. The last night all of the Ma Song lead a procession through town where they literally walk through continous fireworks for over 5 hours which are intended to scare away demons who are affraid of the loud noise. Participants dress in white and refrain from eating meat during the length of the festival. last night of the Nine Emperor Gods procession through the town.</title>

Devotees known as &quot;Ma Song&quot; go into a trance as they are possessed by
Gods and endure body piercing and relentless barrages of fireworks but show no outward signs of pain. They bring the evil spirits to themselves in order to keep the spirits away from their followers and bring good luck to the community for the next year.</title>

<title>Loi Krathong is one of the biggest annual feativals in Thailand held on the full moon of the twelth month. Also known as &quot;Yipeng&quot; in northern Thailand locals make &quot;Krathongs&quot; out of flowers, candles, and incense and light them afire and set them adrift in rivers and canals. Also in Chiang Mai giant Lanna style floating lanterns are lit and float away into the night sky.It is a traditional belief that as they are set free they will take away the troubles of the releasing them and bring prosperity to the neighborhood in the coming year. A huge parade of floats carry men and women in ornate costumes thru the streets of Chiang Mai to the Mae Ping river where the Krathongs and lanterns are released to the sounds of continuous fireworks. </title>

</title>

<title>Once a year in early March Thai Buddists flock to the town of Nakon Chaisi which is about an hours drive outside of Bangkok. The tattoo festival was started by an abbott Luang Paw Poen who died in 2002 and who's well preserved body can be seen at the Wat. They come to Wat Bang Phra to be tattooed by monks who are masters in the art. It is felt that the images of tigers, monkeys, lizzards, birds, and other animals after being blessed by the monk protect the individual from evil and so both criminals and police get the tattoo to protect themselves from bullets and other harm. On the first Saturday morning in March thousands of devotees sit in the scorching sun before senior monks who's prayers put the newly tattooed followers into a trance. The possesed animal spirit rushes toward the stage full of monks where they are intercepted by soldiers who gently capture, calm, and subdue the participant.</title>
