http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/16139 Medical Operatives are done in Dominican Republic as a way to provide social services to towns or communities. The operatives can range from checking patients to performing surgical procedures. I followed a team of surgeons during different operatives in Constanza and Jarabacoa. Typically, surgeons worked with 20 to 30 patients. Sometimes in one operating room 3 surgeries occurred at once, while in the hallways minor surgeries were performed. Additionally, personnel provide good services for the patients but personnel are not paid for these services.
