Mumbai is like an island. The Mumbai is quiet small compared to the size of its population (16 millions). In early 2000, "New Mumbai" or Navy Mumbai starts to be developped. Houses are more affordable than in South Mumbai.

The ships are manually cut. In India, it is a challenge to give safety instructions in an efficient manner as workers come from different states : mainly Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa. All of them are not Hindi or English speakers and don't understand properly the safety instructions. Alang, august 2001
