July 7, 2009 - Korengal, Kunar, Afghanistan - U.S. Army PFC CHARLONNE of the 2st Platoon, Baker Company, 2nd BN, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division stands above an elementary school in on a ridge opposite Donga village where Apache helicopters fire white phosphorous into known Taliban fighting positions. While banned as a weapon due to how it burns victims, white phosphorous is commonly used to obscure an enemy's vision.
