Music Basti' began in 2008 to work with and empower street children through music. It is a youth led program currently working with 200 children under the age of 14 years in Delhi. Through development of an inclusive music education program for children, training and skill development of volunteer and creation of performances and public showcases, it promotes awareness about human rights. The focus is on helping the children to develop self- identity, value orientation and attitudes. Alongside this, it endeavors to join together community needs of children at risk, particularly street children, with the efforts of the music community.
Music Basti is a not-for-profit project run by Integrated Development Education Association (IDEA). Music Basti is supported by The YP Foundation, Aman Biradari, and Bridge Music Academy. Music Basti was selected for the Change Looms (DAC program) in July 2009 (Pravah and Ashoka). It is also supported by EFICOR, JCT Electronics, Furtados Music India and the Gibson Foundation among others.

I have been photographing the progress of Music Basti ever since their first workshop. Its been almost 2 years and the project is going from strength the strength. It has truly been a life changing experience for me to spend time with these children and see what effect music and our interaction with them has had on them.
