Maoist People Liberation Army (PLA) during their armed display at their camp in Harnamadi of Makwanpur district. The maoist joined the main stream politics in 2006 after fighting decade long arm conflict. Nepal has been declared as a Republic country, doing away with the 239 years old monarchy of the Shah dynasty.

Nepal is the only country in South Asia to recognize the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and inter-sex individuals (LGBTI). Approximately 134,000 individuals are currently registered as third gender at 40 different district offices across the country. Over the last few years, LGBTI communities throughout Nepal have started coming together in search of equal rights, social justice and recognition.
