After cyclone AILA ripped the south-western part of Bangladesh two years ago, sea water keeps Koyra inundated twice a day as the major embankments remain broken. The continuous inflow of sea water has led hundreds of acres arable land into arid pasture where the bio-diversity is under threat. According to the agricultural scientists, it will take more than three to five years for the fallow lands to become cultivable again even after the embankments get fixed. Khulna, Bangladesh.

Thousands of people remain water clogged in Shyamnagar Upazilla of Satkhira in the aftermath of Cyclone AILA's rampage through Bangladesh. Several thousand homes were washed away while numerous agricultural lands and crops were damaged by the tidal surges in low-lying coastal areas and on offshore islands in the Bay of Bengal. More than 500 shrimp farms were flooded by five to seven feet high tidal surges in the affected area. Apart from rendering thousands of people homeless and ruining crops, houses and fish-farms AILA has given rise to a severe crisis for food and pure drinking water. Satkhira, Bangladesh.
