the source of the stone is riverbed. thousands of workers are working here with their boats for collecting these stones.

collecting stone from river is not an easy task. the workers have to work hard for it. they don't have modern equipment, don't have any mechanical aid , they swim around the boat and collect stones in boat

they have to work hard in water for the whole day but they didn't get enough money in return , the usual salary of stone worker is 150-250 taka (2-3 USD) per day

the river and the surrounding geography is changed gradually due to over collection of stones from riverbed. some people use explosives beneath the river to explore stones.

the stones are going toward the city in boats. they will use for the construction of many multistory buildings , roads, developments are done with these stones collected from Volaganj of Sylhet but unfortunately the life of the stone workers will remain same. they didn't enjoy any modern facilities rather it become difficult to maintain their family with their small income. they work hard and the people who take lease of these place will become rich
