http://www.lightstalkers.org/galleries/contact_sheet/32954 The “BC-21” (Before Commonwealth - 2010) project of the Delhi Metro aimed to connect Gurgaon, a suburb of Delhi and was the longest stretch spanning 27.45kms with 19 stations in the Phase II of the project. The construction spanned over 2 years with the Metro launch on 21st June 2010 catering to 6.41 Lakh commuters (Aug 2011 – Business Line). The Project germinated with the metro construction in Gurgaon in 2009, where the aim was trying to capture the essence of suburbia and development of Gurgaon as the Millennium City. This suffered a setback during a commercial assignment to clandestinely capture the metro station that got me entangled with the police and metro authorities which led to a 3 hour grilling by the police and confiscation of my equipment. Unwilling to give up and yet be clandestine, I started to use my iphone and the Hipstamatic Application to capture the various facets of metro in 2011. A Work in Progress, the project delves into exploring the first state of art, intra and intercity public transport system that connects Gurgaon and Delhi and is the lifeline of many a commuter. It captures the many private actions and gestures that take place daily in the public sphere. This series also aims to illustrate the various ways in which people create invisible walls and boundaries as a means to confront the modern urban life as well as capture the developing millennium
